Beta Programme Terms

Effective date: 23 August 2026

These terms cover beta and pre-release builds of Deski, and apply for as long as you have beta access. They sit on top of our Terms & Conditions and override them wherever the two disagree. By installing a beta build you agree to both.

1. What beta access is

We unlock the full app on the email address you applied with, for a limited period — currently 30 days. There is no card, no checkout and nothing to cancel; when the period ends, access simply stops. Running short? Ask and we will usually extend it.

Beta access is personal to you and not transferable. It is not a subscription, and it does not become one — if you want to keep using Deski afterwards you buy it like anyone else, at the price advertised at the time.

2. Provided as-is, and expect defects

Beta builds are unfinished and untested. They may crash, behave incorrectly, record inaccurate times, or lose or corrupt data you have already recorded, including across updates. Do not rely on a beta build as your only record of anything that matters — export or back up your data (Settings → Data) before updating. The disclaimers in Section 11 and the liability cap in Section 12 of the main Terms apply in full.

3. Not for production or billing use

Beta builds must not be used as the source of record for client invoicing, payroll, legal timekeeping, or any other purpose where inaccurate data would cause loss. If you invoice from Deski during the beta, check the hours against your own notes first.

4. Access is revocable

We may suspend, withdraw or end your access, or discontinue the beta programme entirely, at any time, without notice and without compensation. A beta build may stop working when your period ends. Nothing here entitles you to a refund, credit, or a free or discounted subscription later.

5. No support commitment

We are glad to hear from testers and we read everything, but we do not promise a response time, a bug fix, any uptime, or that a reported issue will be addressed at all.

6. Feedback

If you send us feedback, bug reports or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them to improve Deski, without obligation or compensation to you. Please do not send us anything you consider confidential or that you are not free to share.

7. Unsigned installers

Beta builds are not yet code-signed, so Windows may warn you that the publisher is unknown. Only install a build you downloaded from a link we sent you, and check it against the published SHA256SUMS.txt if you want to verify it.

8. Test purchases

Where we ask you to exercise the checkout flow, it runs in a sandbox with test card details. No real payment is taken and no subscription is created. If a checkout ever asks you for a real card during the beta, stop and tell us.

9. Confidentiality

Nothing about the beta is secret — you are free to write about it, screenshot it, or say what you think of it in public. If you do, please say which version you tested, because the next one will be different. Writing something longer? See the Creator & Reviewer Terms.

What the main Terms still cover

Everything in the Terms & Conditions that is not contradicted above applies to beta builds in full — in particular the Disclaimer of warranties, the Limitation of liability, Your data and responsibility, acceptable use, intellectual property, and governing law. The sections about subscription, trial, billing and refunds do not, because there is nothing to pay and no order to refund.

Our Privacy Policy applies unchanged. Your tracking data stays on your own device either way.
