Private, local-first time tracking for deep work.
Deski stays in the background, measuring your focus so you don't have to log every minute by hand. Then it shows your day back as time blocks, charts and tags — all stored locally, on your own machine.

See Deski in action
A short walkthrough — background tracking, time blocks, tags and Insights.
Pressing play loads the video from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) — nothing is requested from Google until you do.
Designed for focus
Deski removes the friction of tracking, so you can spend more time in your flow state and less time logging it.
Automatic tracking
Deski watches background activity — mouse and keyboard rhythm — and turns it into clean time blocks. No timers to start, no minutes to log.
Manual logging
Backfill the work that happens away from the keyboard — meetings, whiteboards, calls — so your record stays complete.
Activity insights
Charts, tags and an efficiency score show you when you focus best — so you can shape your day around your peak hours.
Your data, in your hands
Export your whole history to a single SQLite file — open it in any database tool, move it to a new machine, or keep it as a backup. Restore it in one click. No lock-in, no export request, no waiting.
See your day take shape
The Insights page turns raw activity into heatmaps, tag-colored charts and a daily efficiency score.
Spot your peak hours — activity by weekday and hour, plus a daily efficiency score.
See where the time went — hours colored by your own tags.
Hours your client can check
Deski records every time block as it writes it, each entry sealed against the one before. Print a timesheet and it re-checks the whole range against that record, then says on the page whether anything was edited outside the app.
Nothing was touched — one total, and a tick that says so.
Something was — so the sheet splits in two rather than guessing.
A flagged sheet is still sendable
You are never blocked from billing. Verified hours are totalled and invoiced; the rest are listed underneath with the reason, so the client pays what is certain and asks about the remainder. That is a conversation, not an accusation.
It says where each hour came from
Recorded automatically from activity, timed by hand with the stopwatch, or added afterwards as untracked for a session you forgot to start. Billable either way — the sheet just says which, instead of flattening them into one number.
And what it doesn't claim
A tick means the hours haven't been edited since Deski wrote them. It does not mean the work happened, and it cannot — no app on your own machine can prove that to someone else. We would rather tell you that than sell you a guarantee we can't keep.
Private by design, not by promise.
Everything Deski records lives in a single SQLite file on your machine. No cloud, no sync — your tracking data never leaves your device.
100% on-device
All data stays in a local file. Nothing is uploaded, ever.
Keystrokes are count-only
Deski tallies how often you type — never which keys you press.
No mouse coordinates
It records that you clicked, not where on screen you clicked.
Clearing means gone
Clear your data and it's securely wiped from disk, not just hidden.
Simple pricing.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. Every new user gets the full app free for 14 days. A card is collected at checkout, but you're charged $0 during the trial — cancel anytime in the first 14 days and you owe nothing. The trial is one per account — if you cancel, let it lapse and later resubscribe, billing starts right away. After the trial it's $9.99/month — or $99.99/year if you pick annual billing at checkout, which saves 16%. Pro keeps everything unlocked: tracking, full Insights, custom tags, all themes, custom formats, and startup/tray. Your data stays entirely on your device either way.
In a single local SQLite file on your own machine. Your activity is never uploaded or synced — the only thing our sign-in service ever sees is your email address, never your tracking data. You remain in full control of both: tracking data can be deleted at any time from within the app (Clear all, on the Timer or Insights page) and is securely wiped from disk, while your account data on the sign-in service is removed automatically after 90 days of inactivity — or immediately, using the delete option offered when you cancel your subscription.
No. Deski only counts how often you type to gauge activity — it never records which keys you press. The same goes for the mouse: it logs that a click happened, never where on screen. Both trackers are entirely optional — mouse and keyboard tracking can each be switched on or off in Settings, and if you'd rather have no input monitoring at all, Manual mode works as a simple start/stop timer.
As a rule, no — the 14-day free trial is there instead. You get the complete app for 14 days before you're charged anything, so you can decide properly before you pay. Cancel during the trial and you're never charged. After that, cancel any time to stop future billing — you keep access until the period you've paid for ends, but that period isn't refunded.
Deski is a digital product delivered by download, so our refund policy — the one shown at checkout by Freemius, our Merchant of Record — is no refunds, with one exception: if you change your mind and haven't downloaded the app yet, ask within 14 days of your purchase and we'll refund it in full. Once you've downloaded it, a request made within those 14 days is looked at case by case and granted at our discretion; after 14 days we don't refund.
Deski is built and supported by one person. Keeping refund admin out is part of how a one-person product stays sustainably priced — and why the trial is a full two weeks rather than a token few days. Payments are handled by Freemius, our Merchant of Record, and every charge comes with a receipt email; any billing question, write to [email protected]. Statutory rights that can't be waived in your country still apply.
Deski is designed for people whose working hours don't follow a fixed 9-to-5: freelancers managing multiple clients, students structuring their own study time, and independent professionals who set their own schedule. Because tracking is automatic, Deski captures your real working pattern — whenever work happens — rather than forcing your day into a preset timetable.
Deski currently supports Windows only.
